Supply chain
Foshan is China's largest aluminium-extrusion cluster; presses come from Japanese and German builders (with Guangzhou offices) and domestic heavy-equipment makers. Motor-housing buyers deal with the extruder, not the press maker.
Buyer FAQ
- Why are many motor housings extruded rather than die-cast?
- Extrusion gives long, dense profiles with cooling fins and mounting slots at low tooling cost; each housing is cut to length and machined. It suits square-flange servo, stepper and BLDC housings in many lengths from one die.
- Which alloy and temper are used?
- 6063-T5 for most housings (good surface and anodising), 6061-T6 where higher strength is needed. Ask for profile tolerances to the relevant standard and hardness per batch.
- What should I check on machined extruded housings?
- Bore diameter and roundness, concentricity of the spigots at both ends with the bore, end-face perpendicularity, and anodising thickness if specified.
