Buyer FAQ
- Iron-core or ironless linear motor?
- Iron-core motors give the most force per size but have cogging and strong magnetic attraction to the magnet track. Ironless (U-channel) and tubular motors have no cogging and no attraction, so they suit smooth scanning and fast pick-and-place with lighter loads.
- When is a voice-coil motor the right choice?
- For short strokes (a few millimetres to a few tens of millimetres) that need very fast, precise force control — bonding heads, focusing, vibration testing and force-controlled pressing.
- What else do I need besides the motor?
- A linear encoder (optical or magnetic scale), guides, a servo drive that supports linear motors, cable chain and end stops. Many Shenzhen makers sell complete stages so the axis arrives tuned.
- Can I get samples before a volume order?
- Yes. Standard coils and magnet tracks are usually available in 2–4 weeks. Custom strokes, stages and cooling take longer and are quoted per project.
