Spindle accuracy, bar feeder, live tooling.
Supply chain
Japanese machine-tool brands have Guangzhou offices and showrooms, and Guangzhou and Zhongshan builders make CNC and Swiss-type lathes used for motor shafts. Bar feeding, live tooling and thermal stability matter more than top spindle speed.
Buyer FAQ
- What matters most when turning motor shafts?
- Repeatable diameters and run-out across a long batch: thermal stability, a bar feeder for unattended running, and live tooling or a sub-spindle to finish keyways, flats and threads in one setup.
- Swiss-type or fixed-headstock lathe?
- Swiss-type (sliding-headstock) lathes support the bar close to the cut and excel at long, slender shafts of small diameter. Fixed-headstock lathes are more economical for shorter, larger-diameter parts.
- Do shafts still need grinding after turning?
- Yes for bearing seats (h6 / k5, Ra ≤ 0.8 µm) and usually for the rotor seat. Turning leaves grinding stock of about 0.1–0.3 mm on these diameters.
