Buyer FAQ
- Potting or conformal coating?
- Conformal coating is a thin protective film against humidity and dust and keeps the board repairable. Potting fills the enclosure for protection against water, vibration and shock, and helps conduct heat, but makes repair impossible.
- Silicone, polyurethane or epoxy potting?
- Silicone is soft and handles the widest temperature range with low stress on parts; polyurethane is tough and moisture-resistant at moderate temperature; epoxy is hard and strong but stresses components on thermal cycling.
- What should I check before production?
- Cure shrinkage and hardness, thermal-cycling tests on the potted board (cracks and solder fatigue), CTE compatibility with components, and void-free filling.
