Buyer FAQ
- How do I choose a gearbox grease?
- Check compatibility with plastic gears (some oils attack plastics), the operating temperature range — especially low-temperature starting torque — and the noise and load the gearbox must handle.
- Synthetic or mineral grease?
- Synthetic (PAO, ester or fluorinated) greases give wider temperature range and longer life; mineral greases are cheaper for mild duty. Fluorinated greases suit high temperature and long-life sealed gearboxes.
- How much grease should be applied?
- Enough to coat the gear teeth without filling the housing — over-filling raises churning losses and current draw. Dispense a controlled amount and check it on the assembly line.
