Spindles, wire-diameter range, tension control, layering accuracy.
Supply chain
Japanese winder makers run Pearl River Delta sales and service offices, and Foshan and Dongguan builders supply needle and outer-stator winders for appliance and fan motors. Tension control and lay accuracy matter more than rated speed — trial-wind your own stator before buying.
Buyer FAQ
- Needle winder or flyer winder for an inner-rotor stator?
- Inner-rotor stators have their slots opening inwards, so a needle (nozzle) winder is used: the nozzle travels through the bore and lays wire tooth by tooth. Flyer winders are for armatures and outward-facing outer-rotor stators.
- What slot fill can a needle winder reach?
- Typically 40–55 % (copper area / slot area) with orderly layering; the nozzle needs space between coils, which limits the maximum. Segmented stators wound flat can reach 60 % or more.
- What should I test before buying?
- Wind your own stator: check turns accuracy, layering, tension stability at full speed, wire damage at tooth corners (surge test afterwards) and the automatic termination of start and finish wires.
