Shenzhen has domestic safety-tester makers and the offices of Taiwanese brands; East China makers have Dongguan offices. Make sure the tester is calibrated with traceability and supports the IEC 60034-1 test voltages your customers require.

Buyer FAQ

What test voltage should I use?
IEC 60034-1 type test for low-voltage motors is 1,000 V + 2 × rated voltage (minimum 1,500 V) AC for 1 minute. Production tests usually use a higher voltage (about +20 %) for 1 s instead. Customer and safety standards (e.g. IEC 60335 for appliances) may set other values.
AC or DC hipot?
AC hipot stresses the insulation the way the motor sees it in service and is the usual choice. DC hipot (about 1.414 × the AC value) is used when capacitive leakage is high, for example long cables or large windings.
How do I keep hipot testing safe?
Use an interlocked fixture or light curtain, automatic discharge after the test, a daily check with a calibration box or known-fail sample, and trained operators. Never connect by hand while high voltage is enabled.
